About J.L. Amos Author of Speculative Fiction & Poetry
J.L. Amos is an emerging author of all things speculative, some things humorous, and a few things poetic. To the surprise of no one, she was born and raised in Portland, Oregon (AKA Little Beirut, AKA Portlandia, AKA The Tear Gas Capital of the United States). Her poetry has been published in The Penmen Review and The Literary Yard, and she has been on the judging roster for the NYC Midnight creative writing competitions for six years. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, where she was nominated for their Sigma Tau Delta chapter and for the National Society for Leadership and Success. Her post-education goals are to help other writers find success and to find new ways to elevate her community. Her debut novel is forthcoming.
When she isn’t writing, J.L. Amos may be found snuggling with a cat, a dog, and her children. She also volunteers for local food programs, and whenever she’s given a moment to herself, she loves taking walks and being immersed in nature. Like many Pacific Northwesterners, she finds magic in the creep of the fog and roar of the wind. Her favorite reading spot is on the coast, even if it’s raining.
